Has anyone here with an M1 Mac successfully tethered a 5DSR or R5 camera and controlled it with EOS Utility as described above? I'd love an upgrade, but I am concerned about compatibility with EOS Utility.

From EOS Utility, I adjust the settings on the camera live, instruct the camera to take the photo, and then the camera sends the RAW images straight to my Mac (in addition of course to keeping a copy of the image on the card in the camera).Īnyhow, my employer now wants to upgrade my 4-year old MacBook to the new MacBook Pro M1 13", which in addition to having the new processor also runs on Big Sur.

I currently own a 5DSR and an R5 and in the past I have always, for archival work, tethered those cameras (mounted on a repro stand) to my MacBook Pro (Intel), running Mac OS Catalina (or earlier), with a USB cable and, using the live view function of EOS Utility, controlled the cameras from my Mac.
